Recent Notes from Nigel

JULY 14, 2001 Today was a happy day for us. We hired a bus to take all those who wanted to be baptized and have a bit of a picnic that the beach as it is Percida's birthday. Well she and the girls prepared the food and I picked up the people from Tisa. The first trip my car was loaded and with the others coming from Sambag1 and SambagII I wondered if we would have enough room for everyone.... Well it turned out perfect. We had about 50 go, so more than 40 crowded into the bus and the rest were in our car. Several others from the families of those who were being baptized came. E.g., Three husbands, some extra kids and a couple of Mums. Well we ended up baptizing 13 people. Three Mums and 10 youth.. One Mum had three children baptized and another was baptized with her son....

We praise God for how it went!

JULY 9, 2001: We have great news. Saturday we held our quarterly Men's prayer breakfast. Our guest speaker was Chuck Gill, the vice President at the Evangelical Free School. He did a great job and even though our attendance was low at only about 15 or 16 we were inspired and had a great time of prayer. Well that Saturday, even though it was raining (a big thunder storm) we still went to our outreach places. Loida and Reneboy conducted a Bible study with the Ladies who were interested in hearing all about baptism. Several already had accepted Christ at our Anniversary so they have had several studies. They informed us they wanted to go to Church on Sunday so we promised to pick them up. They have two jeepney rides and one tricycle ride to get to Church and don't have enough money for fares for everyone. So on Sunday I went to pick them up and 18 people crowded into the FX. (A few others did come by jeepney) So as a result on Sunday we had a very successful morning service and the evening service also seemed to go well. Attendance was OK considering the heavy rain we were experiencing, at about 45 Adults and 20 odd children in the morning and about another 30 in the evening. Remember it was a horrible wet day.

Well the good news was that ten people came forward at the invitation in the morning. We now have somewhere around about 15 people to be baptized next Saturday so we will have a picnic at the beach in LapuLapu where the water is clean and have quite a party--rejoicing and praising the Lord. The other thing was the offerings... they were great. The morning over 4000 pesos was shared, and in the evening another 1000 so we topped the 5000 peso mark. We know one person gave a lot last month, but even so that still indicates the people are doing the best they can to help support the work. Many we know have very little to give but they are trying.

So we praise God for their efforts and the way God is working.

NIGEL AND LOIDA HAVE A NEW ADDRESS. To be closer to City Church Nigel and Loida have rented their house out to Daryl and Carol Krause, and have rented a house much closer to City Church. Daryl is president of Cebu Bible Seminary. Nigel was having to drive an hour or more in tough traffic, but now lives only blocks away, and little David and Melody are in a fine Christian school.
